Our Venture Promoters get to see behind the scenes, learn about - and support us with - the due diligence activities that are required before an investment can be made.

Start Codon is seeking undergraduate or further education students who are interested in learning about the world of venture building to join their Venture Promoters programme. Venture Promoters get to see behind the scenes, learn about - and support Start Codon with - the due diligence activities that are required before an investment can be made.

This opportunity enables them to build valuable knowledge and experience, and also get early access to the Start Codon Venture Scholar and Venture Catalyst programmes.

Job description:

As a Venture Promoter with Start Codon you will support us in undertaking detailed due diligence on new companies we are considering investing in.

Our Venture Promoters work between 2-4 hours a week as part of a team, in a volunteer capacity. There is some flexibility with when the work is done, but there are some specific requirements in respect to due diligence reports and research.

You’ll get to join regular due diligence calls (scheduled in advance) to learn more from our experienced team, and you’ll have the opportunity to attend educational sessions on all elements of due diligence.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for students currently undertaking an undergraduate degree or participating in a further education programme.

Key skills we’re looking for:

  • You’ll need to be a good multi-tasker, organised and able to adapt to a fast-moving/changing environment.
  • The ability to grasp new programmes and technology quickly is essential.
  • You’ll need to have experience of running/participating in Zoom/Microsoft Teams meetings.
  • And you’ll need to be proficient with the Microsoft 365 suite.
