Jason Mellad and Uzma Choudry join Women in Biotech Panel
Not one but two of the Start Codon Team - CEO, Jason Mellad, and Entrepreneur in Residence, Dr Uzma Choudry, will be joining the Women in Biotech Panel at Benchtalk, hosted by Benchling.
Moderated by Meritxell Orpinell, PhD, PMP, the panel will explore the statistics of women in senior leadership roles and board positions and discuss how we can challenge the bias that still exists, what needs to be done to create equitable opportunities, and how intrinsic and extrinsic factors can impact inclusivity.

Did you know? As of 2023, women held 10.6% of CEO positions in Fortune 500 companies, and around 30% of board seats.
This year's event will focus on allyship, reflecting on ways to challenge bias, advocate for equitable opportunities, and create inclusive and respectful environments in a non-artificial manner. The panel will dive into hot topics including: Labels & quotas -deconstructing the real impact of language and maths; The push-pull toolkit for growth - when confidence meets trust; and Intrinsic & extrinsic factors perpetuating clichés - authenticity fights social pressure.
