Cancer Research Horizons Innovation Summit

Ahead of the event in November 2024, Jason Mellad shared his thoughts on the importance of the event.

Start Codon CEO and Co-Founder, Jason Mellad, recently spoke with Cancer Research Horizons ahead of its Innovation Summit in November, to offer his perspective on the event and highlight its value to entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs in oncology research. Here are some of his insights into why this is an important opportunity.

What is the most transformative aspect of the Innovation Summit?

Commercialisation of research is not easy an easy thing to get right, which is exactly why the Innovation Summit is important. It gives those attending the chance to learn about the entrepreneurial mindset and the skills, knowledge and network needed to create a successful venture.

What is the most important thing that the researcher or entrepreneur communities can take away from the Summit?

I really encourage attendees to make the most of the opportunity to network and meet as many people as possible who can help them on their entrepreneurial journey – and don’t forget to follow up and make the connection beyond the event.

What advice would you give to those who are attending for the first time?

If you’re attending for the first time, it might feel quite overwhelming, so do make a bit of time to reflect between sessions. Think about capturing your reflections (in a way that works for you), so you can then look back on these to jog your memory on what you took away from each part of the event.
